Adaptive Sports Resources

The Model System Knowledge and Translation Center (MSKTC) is a national center that helps facilitate the knowledge translation process to make research meaningful to those with Spinal Cord Injury, Traumatic Brain Injury, and Burn Injury. Summer is all about getting outside and being active, so I wanted to highlight a resource on how to get involved in adaptive sports and what types of sports are out there!

The MSKTC has a factsheet on the importance of adaptive sports and recreation and the benefits they bring to our lives. The factsheet covers how to get involved in adaptive sports and the mentoring relationships it can foster. Further, it lists different organizations that offer adaptive sports. MSKTC also has a podcast about adaptive sports and recreation on its website.

I highly recommend you check out these factsheets, as well as their library of factsheets, related to spinal cord injury care.  You can check them out at https://msktc.org/sci-topics/adaptive-sports-and-recreation

Find me on Instagram (@megs_hammond) and let me know what recreational activities your like to participate in!  Let’s keep those happy thoughts, productivity, and self-care going!  Until next time, live honestly, passionately, and with kindness! Take care!
