Ditching and switching my household cleaners for nontoxic, eco-sourced cleaners has been a priority for me lately. It won’t happen overnight, but every month, I get one step closer to having an arsenal of nontoxic cleaning products.
*Disclosure: There are some affiliate links below, but these are all products I highly recommend. I won’t put anything on this page that I haven’t verified and/or personally used. See my full disclosure statement here.
The first switch I made was to Thieves Household Cleaner. Even if store-bought brands say “natural” on them, they likely contain “fragrance” (which companies can hide toxic ingredients behind) and SLS. SLS stands for “sodium lauryl sulfate“ and is linked to cancer, neurotoxicity, organ toxicity, skin irritation, and endocrine disruption. With my Thieves Household Cleaner, I can toss my window cleaner, floor cleaner, counter cleaner, and my dusting cleaner. One bottle and my whole house can be cleaned.
And, I love that I can make other clean, healthy cleaning supplies like this soft scrub with my household cleaner, baking soda, and vinegar. I could clean my recliner with Diamond still sitting in it, and it’s still supporting both of our immune systems.
When we know better, we can do better.
Learning what ingredients to avoid is something that I’m still doing. Learning. I’m doing my best to not bring anything new into my home that isn’t 100% clean and safe, and am working on replacing the things that I do currently have. There are so many health benefits to doing this, and some of them may surprise you.
Do you have allergies? Or, how about asthma? Maybe you struggle with headaches or fatigue? These things plus so many more are all symptoms of using toxic cleaning supplies and other household items (i.e. candles). So, why not support your immune system instead of tearing it down? I would love to have a conversation about how the products at Young Living can help SUPPORT you and your wellness journey.
