Another Thursday means another YouTube Video!
This video isn’t too exciting (makes you want to watch, right?), but it’s something that I did want to share. I will do a better video in the future (possibly next week if it goes as planned) of describing each step and better camera angles.
But
This week, I am sharing a behind the scenes look at an opportunity that I was asked to be part of! The LoCo ‘Yaks asked me to be involved with a promotional video they are putting together about their adaptive paddling equipment and services. I am honored to be part of this adventure!
I met Robb and Stephanee back in June when they hosted an adaptive paddling workshop (APW). This event kicked off a grant they received from ODNR (Ohio Department of Natural Resources) to purchase adaptive equipment and begin offering their services to those with disabilities that want to get on the water and kayak.
This is where I come in
So, I’ve done multiple APWs in the past. 7 or 8 of them actually. This was the only opportunity that I had to get on the water and paddle. Something that I fell in love with my first time out. You see, I grew up on the water. My family would go camping and boating so often in the summertime. It was one of my favorite childhood memories. But, as I got older, the less likely I was to be around water at all.
Then came the APWs, and then my move to the Cleveland area.
Meeting the LoCo ‘Yaks was the best part of my summer. Now, I have the opportunity to go paddling every single Monday (as long as Mother Nature allows us to). I practice my skills, learn new skills, and be out on the water.
Needless to say, I am very thankful for my friendship with Robb and Stephanee and the opportunity to paddle on a weekly basis. I hope you enjoy this video. Like I mentioned, it may not be very entertaining (although I was VERY entertained by Joey) but it is a behind the scenes look into adaptive paddling and the technique I use to transfer in and out.
As always, leave me some feedback either here – below this post, e-mail me (megs@thewheellifeblog.com), or on any of my social media platforms! (FB/IG/TW @wheellifeblog and Snapchat @megsh8). I would love to hear from you and what I can do to help. If there is ANYTHING that you want to hear about – please let me know! I can’t do any of this without YOU, so I would love to connect with you!
Let’s keep those happy thoughts, productivity and self-care going! Unit next time, live honestly, passionately, and with kindness!
