Quarantine Part 1

Heellllloooooo!  It has certainly been a while since I have uploaded anything.  Life was getting in the way, and then BOOM! Coronavirus hit.

I’ll admit that it took me about a week or so to fully get into the swing of things.  Setting up a home office and my routine in a way that allowed me to continue all the things I was doing was a bit of a struggle.  But, alas, I achieved it. And if you haven’t yet, you will. Give yourself grace and patience during this time!

So, I am a lucky one in that I am able to keep working 40 hours a week, remotely from home.  My employer has launched new policies to account for so many employees working from home, but for the most part, our research has not been interrupted.  There are still many things that we can do remotely and over the phone with our patients. The only hang-up is that we are currently not enrolling new patients, or seeing patients in person.

The work must go on

Shortly before COVID-19 took control of our lives, I decided to see where Young Living could take me.  The opportunity opened up at the end of January, but I didn’t think about it until about mid- to late February.  So, you may have seen a spike of information on my social media accounts about Essential Oils and the other products Young Living offers.

These products are seriously life-changing.  I need to devote another post specifically about this, but I am telling you!  If you have not tried essential oils, PLEASE email me, send me a DM, however you want to get ahold of me.  I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to share my information with you! I will never pressure you to buy anything, but I would love to open up the conversation about all the benefits I have learned so far.

And then there was surgery

This surgery had been planned since February, but on April 2, I had my second baclofen pump battery replacement surgery.  I was originally implanted with a pump in December 2008 and had my first battery replacement in 2015. These pumps last for 5-7 years (depending on the device) and it was time for me to get mine replaced.

Since baclofen withdrawal is a serious complication of a pump not being replaced early enough, it was decided that the surgery was health critical and would proceed during this pandemic.

And so it did

The surgery went well, and within days I was feeling back to normal (majorly due to using essential oils if you ask me), but my restrictions were in place for a minimum of two weeks.  I had to limit my bending, twisting, and turning and could not lift, push or pull more than 10 pounds.

Do you realize just how often you have to bend over to pick something up?! I hadn’t (remembered) until after this surgery!  Holy Cow! It felt like I couldn’t really do anything. So, thank goodness for my awesome mother and boyfriend! Between the two of them, I was taken care of!

My house was clean and kept organized, my laundry was done, groceries were shopped for, and I was taken care of.  My to-do list would have kept piling up and I would have no food in my home if they weren’t willing to help me out, or if I didn’t have them in my life.

Impact of COVID-19 on me

I haven’t felt much impact from the pandemic, other than working from home.  However, I did have some issues obtaining medical gloves that I use in my daily routine (outside of a pandemic) and grocery delivery services are very backed up.

So, I have heavily relied on Chris (mostly) for things that I need – mostly groceries.  He and I will order in a little more often than usual to help support local businesses, but we do enjoy cooking together as well.  He has brought me the majority of my groceries and I can’t thank him enough.

I hope that you and your family/loved ones are staying safe and at home, as much as possible during this time and all your medical needs are taken care of!
